We have had a very successful year of Junior Book Clubs with children ranging in age from 9-13 years old.

Along the way we discovered a number of top class reads, from heartbreaking non fiction like 'Chinese Cinderella' to classic adventure in 'Kensuke's Kingdom' and just plain entertainment in 'Mr. Stink'.

Although, as with all great journeys, we came across a couple of let downs like the disappointing Irish read 'Dancing in the Dark' and 'Framed' that just seemed to lack momentum.

Together with input from the kids we have come up with a diverse list of reads for the summer to suit any taste.

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
The Secret Garden by Fances Hodgson Burnett
Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce
Wildflower Girl by Martina Conlon McKenna
Milo and the Restart Button by Alan Silberberg
The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Hitler's Canary by Sandi Toksvig

VILLAGE BOOKS would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the kids who participated in the Junior Book Clubs this year. They have taught us what's hot and what's not on the bookshelves!!!

Have a great summer!
